When a famous far right activist decided to mobilise the country against Asylum seekers
On September 13th,we wondered how we could make a big difference to a small group of people.
We put out a suggestion on social media for people to send us in supportive and comforting messages to the individuals living in Shropshire’s asylum hotels. On the 13th, we took the messages to the hotels and put them up on the walls for all to read. The response was heart warming and reaffirming, humanising and gratefully received.
In a very short turn around, we had 80 messages of goodwill which we photocopied twice- one for each hotel.
Many were from individuals, however, a massive thank you to, in particular, 4 churches who answered the call:
Shrewsbury United Reformed Church
The Parish of Harlescott
Hanwood Church
Oxon Parish Church
And also, thank you to SERCO for working with us so well.
